Dairy Council Grant Funds Healthy Eating & Physical Activity Initiatives in Schools

By Guest Writer Caryn Kusleika, Director of Health and Wellness, Midwest Dairy Association

Fuel Up to Play 60 is a student-led wellness initiative that is a partnership between the Dairy Council and the National Football League. It offers many wellness resources to schools, including Farm to School resources.

Schools can learn more about our Midwest Dairy Association Farm to School resources here. You’ll find a short, fun video about dairy farming (highly recommended!). Lots of other Dairy Farm Facts are available too. You can even request a dairy farmer to visit your school!

Any school that participates in the National School Lunch program is eligible to apply for up to $4,000 through Fuel Up to Play 60. The funds can be used towards physical activity and healthy eating initiatives, including Farm to School. The next funding application deadline is June 16, 2016.

The Midwest Dairy Association also has a number of short videos to provide guidance for schools to complete the funding application. Check those out here.
