Finding Better Ways to Manage Vegetation Under Transmission Lines

Midwestern states have a lot of potential to develop new wind power to meet their energy needs. But to make full use of these renewable resources, we need a way to connect new wind energy to the electric grid. As we continue to set our sights on increasing our use of wind energy, we also have to build out our transmission grid to provide wind projects with a path to consumers.

Zoned Out

Over the past few years we have seen tremendous growth in the efficiency, effectiveness, and use of wind power. In our report Zoned Out, we analyzed different approaches to zoning commercial wind energy systems. The report (http://www.cfra.org/zoned-out-wind-energy-analysis) also broke down the advantages and disadvantages of these approaches, and what makes for effective zoning standards.

Clean Power Plan Finalized

On August 3rd, President Barack Obama and EPA Director Gina McCarthy announced EPA’s release of the final version of the Clean Power Plan, establishing the first U.S. limits on carbon pollution. We applaud the Administration for taking this step. The Clean Power Plan will provide a significant opportunity to reduce America’s dependence on fossil fuels by stepping up our commitment to renewable energy and greater energy efficiency.
