Center Seeks Input on Conservation Programs via Farm Bill Helpline

The sign-up deadline for the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) has been extended to Jan. 7, 2011. Previous sign-ups yielded success stories for farmers and ranchers, but also some disappointments and frustrations. So if you plan to participate, we want to hear what's working and what isn’t.

Land Matching Programs Grow

A decade ago there were 20. Today there are 33. As the average age of US farmers has risen (now 57.1) and the number of farmers under age 35 has plummeted (only 5%), new land matching programs have sprung up to reverse the trends.

Take Advantage of Extended Deadline for CSP

USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) recently extended the application deadline for the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) until January 7, 2011. This is a welcome extension for farmers and ranchers who hope to apply for the CSP for next year but needed additional time to complete applications, especially coming off the busy harvest season.
