Since 2011, David and Kimberly Nelson have been designing and producing high-quality custom bling designs and applying them to t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, jeans, backpacks, headbands, dance and cheer uniforms, sports jerseys, mugs, helmets, car/store windows, and more!
In the fall of 2012, the Nelsons applied for a REAP loan. Dave and Kim wanted to move their business, Bling by Zing, from home to a storefront. They needed financing to make the transition and expansion happen.
The move was successful, and they now have a retail store in historic downtown Papillion, Nebraska. Most products, though, are sold through a large network of direct-selling consultants. These creative women love bling and enjoy owning their own businesses!
At the start of 2014, Bling by Zing had 32 consultants in seven states, including Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, and Iowa. Now that number has grown to 50 consultants placed nationwide.
The Nelsons recently secured another REAP loan, and more growth is on the horizon. It will help with expansion and upgrades to the business website, software, and consultant technology. Dave and Kim’s goal is to have 100 consultants by the start of 2016.
Kim and Dave are the proud and busy parents of 4 children. Both are active in their local schools and community. The Center for Rural Affairs and REAP recognized the Nelsons as “Entrepreneurs of the Year” in 2014.
