What do you get in a room filled with Business Women? Networking and Learning! That’s what filled the YWCA of Grand Island when the Center's REAP Women's Business Center and the SBA District Office hosted the Women Entrepreneurs Conference on March 19, 2014.

Ann Martin, IdeaBank Marketing, shared the 10 Missteps of Marketing and How to Avoid Them. She encouraged us to know our customers, know our competition, and know how we do it better. Relationship marketing is key.

J’Nan Ensz, CPA with Accounting and Business Consulting Group, LLC, shared tips on maximizing tax savings, what you can deduct, what you can’t deduct. Keep it legal. You’ll find more of J’Nan's tips here.  The UNL Entrepreneurship Legal Clinic shared advantages and disadvantages of various legal entities of structuring business.

Three entrepreneurial women shared the challenges and rewards of starting their businesses. We learned more about women-owned small business contracting and exporting along with information on Innovation grants for small businesses. All attendees left energized and ready to move their businesses forward.

Other opportunities for strengthening and growing your business are upcoming around the state. The MarkeTECH Conference, sponsored by GROW Nebraska and co-sponsored by the REAP WBC, was to be held on April 23 in Kearney at the Ramada Inn.

Business Boot Camps are coming up in the western part of the state. Alliance is hosting the Business Boot Camp on April 29 and Imperial is hosting on April 30.
