Lyons, NE - The Center for Rural Affairs is hosting a community meet and greet and reception on Friday, March 13th at the Keystone Business Center in McCook, Nebraska. The event will begin at 7:00 p.m., and Center staff and board members will be on hand for conversation and questions about the work of the Center for Rural Affairs. Most importantly, they hope to hear from local residents and exchange ideas about the opportunities and challenges on the horizon for McCook, Red Willow County and the surrounding region.
"At the Center, we believe that real solutions to the challenges our rural communities face will be found on our farms, ranches and rural mainstreets, not in Washington and Wall Street," commented John Crabtree of the Center for Rural Affairs. "That is why we want to hear from rural folks in their communities.”
The Center encourages everyone to attend the reception to find out more about the Center for Rural Affairs, exchange ideas about revitalizing rural mainstreets and strengthening family farms and ranches. "And have a little fun," added Crabtree. Light refreshments and drinks including Loop Brewing Company beer will be provided.
That's appropriate as the proprietors of Loop Brewing Company, Adam Siegried, Tyler Sue and Tyler Ray Loop, happen to be the recipients of the 2014 Entrepreneurs of the Year Award from the Center for Rural Affairs.
Dena Beck, Center for Rural Affairs Rural Enterprise Assistance Project (REAP) Loan Specialist, will be presenting the trio with the award at the meet and greet.
"REAP was extremely helpful in us getting the necessary financing we needed when we opened over 3 years ago. Adam and I are very appreciative of Dena and everybody at the Center for Rural Affairs for all their help then, and it still continues today,” said Tyler Ray Loop. “We are also very honored and humbled to be receiving their Entrepreneurs of the Year Award."
“We definitely have no regrets about opening the brewery. The hard work we put into the old rustic building next to the railroad tracks and the ability to be very creative in the food, beer, and other drinks we serve has really paid off,” Loop added. “We are still a very small brewery in comparison, but being able to say we make our own beer and be apart of a booming industry is one of the best parts about the business...and don't forget to try the homemade Root Beer and Cream Soda."
