Women for Water Gathering - Des Moines, Iowa
Iowa women have an opportunity to contribute to the state’s water quality discussions at the inaugural Women for Water Gathering on Friday, Nov. 17, 2017.
This free event, hosted in part by the Center for Rural Affairs, will be held at the Holiday Inn Des Moines - Airport/Conference Center, 6111 Fleur Drive, Des Moines, Iowa, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a reception to follow.
Speakers include Lou Thompson, Hurricane Katrina survivor, Cedar Rapids business owner and flood survivor; Hannah Ray J, Iowa native and whitewater river surfer; and Alyson Beytien, who will speak on learning, living, and advocating.
Small group discussions and panel question and answer sessions will focus on “What worked in my community this fall?” and “What does sustainability mean in my community?”
Women for Water is a project of Iowa Rivers Revival, and a collaborative effort driven by water-related agencies, advocates, and organizations in Iowa, including the Center for Rural Affairs.
Registration is free, and includes lunch. Registration is required by Nov. 13.
