Been Around for a Long, Long Year

After more than a year, we've finally- finally- reached the point of Senate Agriculture Committee Farm Bill markup. Rumor has it they will finish the farm bill in less than a day- maybe even less than 5 hours. So we’re not expecting much in the way of fireworks. It appears that all of the controversial issues have either been resolved or pushed off until floor consideration.

So we’re going to listen in and make note on the blog of anything we hear that is particularly interesting, but we won’t commit to an actual “live blogging” session. Really, if Brian Depew could stop going to meetings so often, live blogging would be much easier.

But in the meantime, there is all kinds of mainstream media coverage worth perusing. Surprisingly, much of it is reasonably accurate.

First, the editorials, all of which say we must reform farm subsidies to meet a variety of needs. From the Washington Post, New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Des Moines Register, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Washington Times.  I'm sure there's more.
