Students with an interest in agriculture and natural resources management are desired. NRCS is seeking primarily graduating high school seniors, but any student at least 16 years of age may apply.
THE JOB: Students would work along side NRCS employees in the planning and layout of conservation practices. Depending on location, this may vary from range practices, to cropland practices, irrigation practices, or wildlife habitat planning. Students could be asked to help with administrative duties or other general tasks needed by the office.
PAY & BENEFITS: Students can work up to 40 hours per week at the hourly rate of $9.57 (2009 pay rate). Students would not receive any benefits, like sick leave or vacation, and are paid for the hours worked. Students would work at the NRCS office nearest to them, and would need their own transportation for getting to and from work.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be U.S. Citizens and have a valid driver’s license.
START/END DATE: The beginning and end of summer are flexible with the local office. Applications are being accepted until December 18, 2009 (at least postmarked by that date). Applications can be sent by e-mail to
